BKTEF Signs MOU with the Culture Department

The Baacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation (BKTEF) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Culture Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the protection, promotion and preservation of local culture, arts and heritage on Monday,10^th January 2011, in Nishtar Hall Peshawar. Crafts exhibition and music events were held to celebrate the MOU.

The ceremony was formally started with recitation from the Holy Quran. Aey Zama Wattans was sung by the students of Bacha khan School Shebaz Garhi. The audience stood silently in respect of the anthem. Before the formal signing of MOU, the Managing Director BKTEF Dr. Khadim Hussain threw light on the purpose of signing the MOU and its relevance to the vision of the Foundation. According to him the revival of the dismantled cultural institutions documentation of heritage and promotion of creative engagement are pre-requisite to pluralistic democratic culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Technical Advisor to the project and Director Hunerkada, Jamal Shah, discussed the technical aspect of the project. He described detail of the mechanism of the implementation of the project.

After signing the MoU, the Chairperson of BKTEF and Provincial President of ANP Afrasiab khatak addressed the audience. He said that the ethnic and linguistic diversity of our province is the richness and beauty of our culture.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain distributed certificates among the BKTEF staff for their best services in the Flood Relief Campaign.

A traditional lunch was served to the guests from all parts the province.

A Musical Evening was arranged on the occasion. Its main purpose was to encourage the artists and to provide them an opportunity to regain their social and cultural space.

The managing Director BKTEF Dr.Khadim Hussain also announced the establishment of Artists Welfare Fund on behalf of BKTEF to extend its support and help to the underprivileged artists.

BKTEF shall assist the Culture Directorate in the establishment of a Culture Resource Center (CRC) under its project Promotion and Preservation of Local Arts, Culture and Heritage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the financial support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy. The CRC shall be equipped with state of the art library, digital archives, museum, studio and training institute and shall focus its activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
